Sigmund Freud, Nikola Tesla, Franz Schubert, Gustav Klimt, Johann Schraus, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven. These are just a few of world-known names.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

A well-known actor and the former governor of California, USA was born in Austria, near Graz in an ordinary Austrian family. Here Schwarzenegger began his career as a bodybuilder and at 21 moved to the United States.

Besides tremendous success and multiple victories in various bodybuilding competitions, Schwarzenegger gained worldwide fame as an actor and as a successful politician. “Conan the Barbarian”, “The Terminator” film series, “Predator”, “Red Heat”, “Junior”, “Escape”, “Sabotage” – of course you know all these movies. In addition to his acting career, he was twice elected the governor of California, USA.

A world-famous skydiver and a base-jumper was born and raised in Salzburg, Austria. Thrill fans will forever remember his shocking base-jumps: from the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lampour, from the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, from the Millau Viaduct in France (1125 feet), from the then-tallest Taipei 101 in Taiwan (1,667 feet).

On October 14, 2012 Baumgartner made a successful parachute-jump from the stratosphere from an altitude of 128 000 feet. Thus he became the first person in the world to break the sound barrier speed outside a vehicle. The skydiver was in a free fall for 4 minutes 19 seconds and set a record for the maximum speed of 1342 km / h. Millions of people watched Baumgartner’s jump live on television!

The famous Hollywood actor Christoph Waltz is also an Austrian. He became widely known for the role of SS Standartenführer Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino’s sensational movie “Inglourious Basterds” (2009). Continuing cooperation with Tarantino, Waltz played in the western “Django Unchained” (2013). He earned an Academy Award, Golden Globen Award and BAFTA Award as Best Supporting Actor for each of these performances. Waltz also received the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival for for the portrayal of Hans Landa.

Christoph Waltz is the only Austrian actor to win two Oscars.

The world-famous tennis player has taken his special place in the world of tennis elite. Dominic Thiem is № 3 tennis player on the planet (singles).
